About
We publish national cost ranges so homeowners can read a contractor quote before they sign it.

What this site is for
Most people hire a contractor a handful of times in their life. The contractor does it every day. That gap is why a quote can feel unarguable even when it is high, and closing it is the only thing this site does.
Every cost page gives a national range, the average within it, and the reasoning underneath — what drives the number up, what a complete quote should itemise, and when the range does not apply.
How we are funded
Display advertising and contractor referral fees. Neither affects a published figure. No contractor can pay to change a number, to be named in a cost guide, or to have a competitor removed. If that ever changes, it will be written here first.
What we are not
We are not a contractor, an estimator, or a licensing body. The figures here are national estimates for orientation before you get quoted. They are not a quote, and they cannot account for your house, your access, or your local market.
